This year’s beneficiaries will be Music 4 More and Original Works, Inc.

Music 4 More provides financial and in-kind
resources to sustain and foster under-funded music programs in schools and
communities nationwide. This year, BlackRock Rocks will have an instrument drive on
the day of the Mardi Gras celebration, with the help of Music 4 More.

Original Works, Inc. provides substantive arts experiences for youths from the
Bridgeport region, in dance, music, theater and film while the participants work
with professional artists in creating, developing, and performing original artistic
productions.

ALSO FOR OUR FIRST TIME, WE ARE LOOKING FOR INSTRUMENTS!

Wondering what to do with that old trombone in your mother’s attic?  Or the bass guitar that you swore you were going to learn to play ages ago?

For the first time this year, BlackRock Rocks Mardi Gras is conducting a used instrument drive.  We are seeking used instruments to help a public school music program in Bridgeport, and to support our goal of bringing music and arts to students.

We have set up this instrument drive in conjunction with our beneficiary, Music 4 More (www.music4more.org), who runs similar drives across the country.  After all donated instruments have been cleaned and repaired they will be delivered to a public school in Bridgeport.

Gently used instruments will be accepted through Friday, February 17th at:
Turnpike Music Garage
1485 Black Rock Tpk, Fairfield, CT 06825
Tel 203-368-6874

When you make your donation, be sure to get a receipt and bring it to BlackRock Rocks Mardi Gras on February 18th.  When you show it at the door, you will receive 10 raffle tickets, which will increase your chances of winning unique prize packages that will be awarded throughout the event.

Instruments of all sizes, as well as metronomes, drum sticks, music stands and tuners, will be collected.  Instruments should be in working condition, although certain repairs can be made.

We want to thank Music 4 More and Turnpike Music Garage for their help with this instrument drive.
